One Room Challenge -Week Four

Well I can’t believe it is week 4 of the one room challnge! Only 2 more weeks to get all the things completed. I am happy to report that the room is finished! Now on to the styling! Paint is done, trim is done, baseboards, done, FLOOR IS DONE! So. Freaking. Pumped.

Here’s what we got up to….

We had all the old flooring up in week one so we were ready to rock with the underlay. This was all supplied by Monarch Carpet one flooring here in Edmonton. We loved the quality of this underlay as well as the tape already on it ready to stick down which made it one less step and less chance of messing up the location the tape had to go down. where the tile is going to be laid in the front entrance, we added a strip of wood for the floor to butt up to so that the floor stayed flush for the future tile.

Next we got to laying the planks ! We chose an epoxy resin laminate in the color Huron. I am so SO happy with it and my husband andI keep saying how nice it even feels under foot. This flooring is very strong and heavy duty. My husband said when he was cutting it that it actually sparks because it is such a durable product!

The flooring is just what I have envisioned and I am so happy!!

Next we put up the baseboard , I filled the holes nail holes with a fill stick and we used DAP along the top for a seamless transition. I painted it the same “ ballet white” I used throughout the whole room.

Lastly, I had to paint the back of the door the same colour and it looks like a whole new space!!! I am so freaking pumped!

Finally, we moved the china cabinet in to the room and I am so happy it fits. The only sad thing is not seeing the beautiful moldings on the one wall. I realized that my vertical moodboard didn’t show my plan here and I need to quickly share the horizontal one again.

This China cabinet was my grandmothers. I inherited it and truth be told, I have never really loved it. One day, my mom wants to move it to her cabin but for the time being , I’m keeping it. It sat in my dining area for a solid 8 years and I never could achieve what I wanted in that space with it there so I am very excited to move it to the office and make it our official mini library! . I would love to paint it black one day but I am not sure that is something that should happen right now haha.

Next week will be a huge post with lighting coming and the rug too! ( well hopefully) and I am very excited to share my DIYs!

And don’t forget to check out all of the other AMAZEBALLS designers that are participating in this fall One Room Challenge!

Until next week,

xoxo, Gossip girl…

wait….
