DIY lamp redo ~ industrial style

I used an old Lamp base to create a new industrial lamp. I have found that learning how to do little things around the house is very rewarding seeing as they are more "blue" tasks as opposed to "pink". I have to thank my Dad and my husband for showing me how to do the more manly things around the house:)

Here it is!

I used:

This lamp base

wire

plug in and switch
First I split the wire down the centre to create two wires.

Then using an olpha knife or wire strippers, I stripped the plastic off of the wire to expose both ends.

Then I threaded the wire through the lamp base. This part took forever since the lamp itself is so narrow.

Next I wired the plug. You have to pry the plug cover off as well as the cord clamp and then thread the cover on the wire first.

Next I twisted the wire and rounded the edges so that its easier to hold in place when tightening the screws on either side.

Then replace the cover and tighten the cord clamp.

Then I wired the switch. Same as the plug, I twisted the wire and bent it to hold in place.

Then I put the cover on.

After, I asked my trusty assistant to hand me the Edison bulb.

After, I thread the bulb in and plugged it in.

VOILA! we have light.

There you have it! I say all you ladies out there should try this out and see what you can create, repurpose and wire up.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT I READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO STARTING THIS PROJECT AND THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS DO THE SAME.*
