Something Different Late Fall Home Tour
Well Hello There!
When my insta pal Cassie Bustamante asked if I was would be interested in participating in this fall tour, I was beyond happy to. I am not a huge fan of Holiday decor in general. Subtle touches here are there are great but actual full blown “ decking of halls” isn’t my jam.
So as much as I am a vintage shop owner and at times maximalist, my fall decor shifts every year into “ get rid of all the things” you’d think I was living in the spring season but sadly, the snow is already here to stay. Without further ado, here is my weird take on fall home decor.
My fall decor in the house has definitely taken on more warm tones. One of my favourite things I added was all of the terracotta pots to the fireplace mantle as well as the beautiful copper fireplace grate. My sister gifted it to me and it is definitely a favourite item in the house. I also decided to add one of my favourite new kinds of foliage. Wild sage! I have added throughout the whole house and I AM LOVING IT. It also smells divine.
One of my favourite walls in the house is this faux concrete wall I painted and I still haven’t shared the process! I just love the texture it provides between the family room and kitchen. One of the walls I dislike the most is the weirdo gallery wall on the right there. It was made with the intention some wainscotting and that well…. kids.
The kitchen doesn’t get a lot of changes. It is the smallest room in the house and the most used room so not a not of space. I switched up some art on the wall and changed out the mat in front to the sink.
Moving into the formal dining room is where I moved a rug that I DIY’d out of two smaller cotton ones. It usually lives in my master bedroom. I have not been a fan of this room for a very long time. I love the front room but I don’t love the dining area. I have a hard time styling it right. but the NUMBER ONE issue I have with this space is the orange floor. It was here 10 years ago and my husband finally agreed to let me paint it! It only took ten years……. So I am hoping to get to that in the next couple of months .EEEEEEEE! I couldn't be more excited! The big question is…. what colour? Knowing me, it’s gonna be white or off white. HAHHA!
Almost everything in this house is thrifted or gifted. I take a lot of time trying to find the right pieces. One thing though, is sometimes you are gifted those pieces you don’t really want. Those pieces that are niece, but that you have outgrown. Well that is a bit of my house and I’m never quite sure what to do with it. Suggestions? hit me up. ASAP haha
For our master, I found two amazing vintage teak side tables for $75. They are in incredible condition with a solid back which I love because I hate seeing cords but they are an inevitable part of life. I recently thrifted the most amazing deep navy blue Turkish rug on the right side of the bed. It is so much and I paid $5 for it! The front rug I found on FB marketplace for $45 and it is so thick and beautiful. My husband built this stunning bench from scrap wood off of an old pallet. The mirror, and pillow cases were also thrifted. The curtain panels were purchased new from Fabricland and they have black out lining and have been a great addition to our bedroom with the oatmeal colour.
We are still debating our bed frame and still acting like college kids with a boxspring and mattress on the floor. hahaha. I have big plans for this room but I have to put it on back burner as I work on other things in the house first.
My eldest daughter Ruby got a room refresh and she is sooo happy with her rainbow room! You can grab the link to the rainbow tutorial here. No fall touches in here just “Ruby”. We have since added some more pink touches and a little bit of gold too. But that’s for another post…..
I hope you enjoyed the home tour! Oh and Happy Friday!
