One Room Challenge Fall 2020 | Week Two Demo!
OMG We’re back again! ( Cue “Backstreet’s Back”)
If it wasn’t for theOne Room Challenge I don’t know if I would be blogging this regularly! haha
Well one week in and in real time we are already a month into this reno but let me get you caught up to where we are now.
We have removed the front bench, and side walls that accompanied it.
Then we firred the wall out to be flush with the step at the front leading into our living room. We drywalled, mudded, taped it and primed it!
Next we tore out the wall to what was at one point like a make shift boot room for awhile. The door way and wall BE GONE! It immediately allowed more light in.
Then we also firred that wall out to match the wall on the other side of the hallway and moved some electrical, drywalled, mudded, and primed it too!
After that I took down the old Gallery wall and pulled off all of the old wallpaper and scrubbed, then we mudded there too!
After that we got the crew ( aka my 7 & 9 year old daughters) to help take out the old laminate and underlay.
Next I primed the whole space and then painted the colour “ballet white” by Benjamin Moore all over the walls and the ceilings. I am only doing one coat on the walls right now because we are adding an appliqué molding to the walls and we are painting the second coat after they are installed. Here is my Inspiration photo but I think we are only doing the bigger rectangle and not the little ones at the bottom.
Here is one coat of paint done in the ”Ballet White” by Benjamin Moore.
Next we worked on the from entrance side of the project and we installed some faux beams because it was easier than taping, mudding, and sanding the ceiling. I haven’t decided what colour I will pick for the beams yet but the ceiling will be white. There will be 5 beams total.
Well that’s all for this week! we have had our wood and trim sent to us from Windsor Plywood Sherwood Park so I am so excited to share next weeks progress!!!
Don’t forget to make sure you check out all of the other wonderful participants!! for the One Room Challenge this fall!
